It has been another busy week in College, with a variety of events and trips!
Year 11 Information Evening
On Wednesday we welcomed year 11 parents and students into College for the Post-16 and Exam Information Evening. We are grateful to the Lead Practitioners who gave up their time to deliver presentations on how to prepare for the upcoming mock exams, and Miss Chivers who talked about revision habits and wellbeing. We were also joined by all of the local Post-16 providers, who showcased their offers and took time to talk to the students and parents about different options. I hope that everyone who attended found it useful and worthwhile.
Donations Button
Following requests from parents and the wider community, we now have a donation button on our website, which can be used to make a one-off or regular donation to the College. We use all donated funds to enhance pupils’ experiences, and provide equipment that our normal funding would not allow us to. All donations are very gratefully received!
iCAS Xtra: in full swing!
Thank you to parents and carers for supporting their children to enrol in the many clubs and opportunities on offer, that are now in full swing. In the last week we have had more than 560 students attend at least one club, which is amazing! We look forward to seeing this grow over the next couple of weeks as students take advantage of the brilliant range of clubs on offer.
Year 7 Trip: Mountfitchet Castle
It is important to us to provide enrichment opportunities for all our pupils to support their learning. Today was the first of two trips for our year 7 pupils to Mountfitchet Castle and Norman Village, as part of their History Middle Years Programme (MYP) unit on the experiences of medieval people in the years after the Norman Conquest. On the trip, the students are analysing and evaluating how the site has changed over time, as well as learning about the different defensive features.
Rotary Peace Debate
We were absolutely delighted to have hosted the annual South Cambridge Rotary Peace Debate at Impington International College on Monday evening. This inspiring event brought together six exceptional teams who engaged in thought-provoking discussions on pressing global issues. Our students shone, crafting strong arguments and delivering impactful points of information that demonstrated their critical thinking and communication skills—key components of our IB World School ethos.
The debate not only showcased the talents of our young debaters but also fostered an environment of international-mindedness, respect, and collaboration. It was heartening to witness our students embody the IB Learner Profile, demonstrating attributes such as open-mindedness, courage, and a commitment to thoughtful dialogue.
A heartfelt thank you to the Rotary Club for organising this event and to all the teams for their outstanding contributions. We eagerly look forward to hosting and participating in future debates, continuing to inspire a generation of thoughtful and informed leaders!
