I am passionate about lifelong learning and my interests include literature, history and writing. I write short stories and articles for publication in journals and magazines.

Course Description
This course will follow the AQA GCSE English syllabus which will concentrate on Reading and Writing skills. It will include the following:
- Explorations in creative reading and writing
- Writers’ viewpoints and perspectives
- Non-examination Assessment: Spoken Language
Aims and Objectives
Learners will draw upon a range of texts as reading stimulus and engage with creative as well as real and relevant contexts. Learners will have opportunities to develop higher-order reading and critical thinking skills that encourage genuine enquiry into different topics and themes.
This specification will ensure that learners can read fluently and write effectively.
Learners will be able to demonstrate a confident control of Standard English and write grammatically correct sentences, deploying figurative language and analysing texts.
At the end of the course each learner will have the opportunity to take an examination that will lead to a GCSE in English Language.

This course could lead to progression towards A Level English or other related subjects
How progress and success will be recorded
Students will be encouraged to participate in individual and group activities in an informal and fun way. Progression from these activities will be supported with further research ideas and wider reading. A mock exam will be optional during the Easter Term.
