As we reach the end of the academic year, things are no less busy! There have been so many events and trips in College this week, I think that staff and pupils alike will be ready for the summer break.
You will be aware that this week is my last at IVC, after eleven years at the College and five as Principal. It has been a joy and a privilege to lead such an amazing institution and to work with an exceptional community of staff and students. I will miss it hugely, but I know that the College will be in incredibly safe hands with Ms Sale and I wish everyone every success. I am very grateful for the support I have received from parents and carers throughout my time at the College- thank you!
Botswana Trip
This week our students have been having an incredible time in Botswana in the Gabarone region. They have been on junior ranger training, learning about flora and fauna, snakes, rhino tracking, and putting this into practice! They have also spent time in local primary and secondary schools, learning about Setswana culture, enjoying cooking classes and meeting the village chief! We are very much looking forward to the photos!
Year 10 trips: Sheringham and Framlingham
It has been a very busy week for year 10, with trips in History and Geography. Nearly 150 geographers have enjoyed their field trip to Sheringham this week, to support with collecting primary evidence for their GCSE course, exploring tourism and coastal processes. As well as this, 10S enjoyed their trip to Framlingham Castle, to support with their GCSE and entry level History courses.
SENDSationals
A group of students also went with Mr Mallett this week to Witchford Village College, to take part in the SENDSationals adapted sports event on Thursday. The students took part as part of the Impington team in a range of adapted and inclusive sporting activities. Not only was this a chance to show of their sporting prowess, but also a chance to focus on their social skills and teamwork in a competitive environment. We are exceptionally proud of them!
Sports Day
Today is one of the highlights of the year for many staff and pupils- our annual Sports Day! We have started off the day with a quiz in tutor teams, before a range of traditional and ‘fun’ races, as well as a fully inclusive Pavilion Sports Day. A great way to end the academic year!
