Tutor Details
Dr Shadi Alansari is an academic and consultant specialising in business management, leadership, and human resources.
Originally from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, he moved to the United Kingdom in 2004 to study at Anglia Ruskin University. He completed a BA in Computer Technology, followed by a Master’s degree in Business Management and a PhD in Human Resource Management. His doctoral research explored the impact of leadership styles on employee motivation within multicultural working environments. Dr Alansari has taught Business Management at Anglia Ruskin University, where he supported postgraduate students studying Management and Strategy modules. In addition to his academic work, he has worked as an education consultant with World Study Solutions in Cambridge, advising students from around the world on education pathways and career development. With experience in teaching, mentoring, and consultancy, Dr Alansari brings a practical and supportive approach to helping learners build confidence in their professional skills and career progression.
Course Description
Searching for a job can feel overwhelming, particularly when much of the process now takes place online. This practical four-week course is designed to help adults break the job search process down into simple, manageable steps.
Learners will gain the confidence and skills needed to navigate job websites, prepare professional CVs, write effective cover letters, and approach employers both online and in person. The course will also introduce learners to modern tools, including the responsible use of AI to help structure and improve job applications. Through guided exercises and practical examples, participants will develop their own CV, learn how to tailor applications for different roles, and explore strategies for finding opportunities that may not always appear online.
Course Breakdown
By the end of the course, learners will have a clearer understanding of how to present themselves professionally, apply for jobs with confidence, and take practical steps towards employment.
- Week 1 – Understanding the Job Market & CV Basics Introduction to the modern job search process and what employers expect from applicants. Learners will explore different job search methods and begin creating their own CV, focusing on key sections such as skills, experience, and education.
- Week 2 – Writing Cover Letters & Using AI Tools Learners will understand when a cover letter is required and how to structure one effectively. The session will also introduce responsible ways of using AI tools to support writing and improve job applications.
- Week 3 – Online Job Searching & Applications Introduction to popular job websites and digital application systems. Learners will practise searching for jobs, understanding job descriptions, and completing online applications.
- Week 4 – Approaching Employers & Job Search Strategy The final session focuses on building confidence when contacting employers directly, whether by phone, email, or in person. Learners will also develop a simple job search plan to continue applying for roles after the course.
Aims and Objectives
The aim of this course is to give learners the knowledge and confidence needed to search for jobs effectively in today’s digital and competitive employment market. By the end of the course learners will be able to:
- Understand how the modern job search process works
- Create a clear and professional CV
- Write a cover letter tailored to a specific job role
- Understand when and how cover letters should be used
- Use AI tools responsibly to support job applications and improve writing
- Navigate online job platforms such as job boards and company websites
- Complete digital job applications effectively
- Develop strategies for approaching employers in person, including visiting

After completing this course, learners will be able to confidently begin applying for jobs using the skills developed during the sessions.
