Course Description

Have you ever imagined seeing your writing published—or earning an income from your words? Whether you’re an aspiring author, freelance hopeful, or simply curious about the publishing world, this four-week course will help demystify the industry and explore the many ways writers can get their work recognised and paid. From traditional publishing and literary agents to self-publishing and online platforms, we’ll explore the different paths to getting published—and how to choose the right one for you. You’ll also discover how to pitch to editors, enter competitions, build an online presence, and explore paid writing opportunities in freelancing, ghostwriting, content creation, and more.

This course combines practical advice with industry insight, enabling you to transform your passion for writing into potential profit and recognition. By the end of the course, learners will:

  • Understand a range of publishing options and how to pursue them
  • Know how to query agents, pitch editors, and enter competitions
  • Feel confident in setting up a basic author platform
  • Discover practical routes to earning income from writing
