Hear from the Principal

March 7, 2025

Another busy week in College. Our year 11 students have just finished their second set of mock examinations, and we have been hugely impressed with how well they have been working independently, and with the way that they have taken their exams in their stride! It has been a hive of activity in the Prom in between exams, with lots of revision activities and self-study going on.

Coffee Morning

A reminder that next week on Wednesday 12th March we have our termly Coffee Morning and Principal’s tour. If you would like to join members of the senior leadership team to ask questions, hear more about life in College, and go on a tour of some lessons, please sign up via

Trip to Cambridge University Press

As part of our World Book Day activities this week, a group of year 10 students had the chance to visit Cambridge University Press and Assessment, for a special careers event. Highlights included a focus on ‘Shakespeare meets Minecraft’ – how can immersive technology bring Shakespeare to life? Students worked in small teams to develop a product concept with colleagues from CUPA, as well as attending a careers carousel, looking at different opportunities.

Health and Social Care Visit

On Tuesday, a large group of our Health and Social Care students had the chance to visit the Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Careers Expo, looking at different opportunities within the field of healthcare. The students had the chance to explore a myriad of different roles within both the health and care industries, and consider potential future careers. Thank you as always to Mrs Baker who finds so many amazing careers education opportunities for our students!

Art Society Success

On Saturday 1st March the Art Society Huntingdonshire Area Young Artists Competition (ASHYAC) exhibition and prizegiving was hosted at Sawtry Village Academy. We’re incredibly proud of the 14 fantastic artists and photographers from IVC and IIC that were selected to be a part of this competition. There were over 300 entries in the competition, from early years through to Key Stage 5 and the standard this year was very high.

I’m thrilled to announce three of our students received awards in the competition, including in some of the most demanding categories.

  • Keziah R (Y12) – Chairmans Prize
  • Indigo K (Y12) – Overall KS5 Winner
  • Lois M (Y11) – Highly Commended (Photography)

Dance Update

This term has been a very busy one in our Dance department, with the students preparing for the upcoming Dance Showcase on 25th March, as well as our Peformance School students gearing up for their big U Dance performance in a couple of weeks’ time. One of our Allegro squad students, Tess R., had some fantastic news this week about her submission to the ‘Be You Dance Project’. Not only did Tess win third place, she also won an ‘Outstanding Dancer’ Award. Miss Petrova was delighted to present Tess with her sash and medal at the Allegro rehearsals earlier this week. If you would like to see Tess, Allegro and all of our Dance students in the upcoming showcase, tickets can be purchased on ParentPay.
