This week, a cohort of students travelled to Spain, our Year 11s started their GCSE examinations, and our partner school, Girton Glebe Primary School, has shared some exciting news with us. I’m pleased to share details with you below.
Hola Zaragoza
As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, each of our students benefit from a truly international learning experience. Through robust and engaging language learning and the development of their IB Learner Profiles, we are helping them to thrive in an increasingly globalised world.
This week, a cohort of our Spanish students have travelled to Zaragoza, and the surrounding areas in Spain, to participate in our Spanish Exchange. Each of our students have been living with host families and learning alongside the students of our partner school. As well as experiencing life as a student in Spain, our students enjoyed visiting the picturesque Pyrenees mountains and the Catalan capital, Barcelona. I am very much looking forward to hearing more about their travels when the students return to the College next week.
Good luck, Year 11 students!
Our Year 11 students have been displaying an exemplary commitment to their learning throughout this academic year in the run up to their GCSE examinations. This week has marked the beginning of their final examinations and I would like to wish them all the very best of luck. As a reminder, our briefings and subject booster sessions will continue throughout their examinations. If your child is at all stressed or concerned, support is available. Please contact at any time and a member of staff will respond within 48 hours.
News from Girton Glebe Primary School
At the start of the academic year, I was delighted to share that the Cambridge cluster of IB World Schools has grown and Girton Glebe Primary School has begun the candidacy process to deliver the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). We have been working closely with the school throughout the process to support its team with the delivery and development of the Programme and I am excited that, in the near future, students in Cambridge will be able to follow the full IB continuum, free of charge.
Grand opening of new sports facilities – you’re invited!
I am always pleased to see improvements being made to our surrounding areas and am delighted to share that on 15 May, at around 3:30PM, Girton Parish Council will be officially opening its new Table Tennis Courts and its refurbished basketball court. Representatives from Table Tennis England will be attending to officially open the site and host a demonstration match. You’ll also be able to try out the facilities for yourself and refreshments will be available.
Can your child help to shape the future of their community?
Finally, I know that many of our students are passionate about having a positive impact on their local communities and Girton Parish Council is seeking input from young people to help shape the future of the village. If your child would like to have their say on what improvements should be made in Girton and influence where future Council budgets are invested, please do ask them to fill out this short online survey.
