Dear Parents and Carers
It is with great pride and delight that I share our recent Ofsted inspection report, from the inspection which took place on 11th and 12th February 2025. This was a full, graded inspection, with five inspectors over the two-day visit, and I am pleased to confirm that the College was graded ‘outstanding’ in all areas: quality of education, behaviour & attitudes, leadership & management, personal development and sixth form.
We are naturally delighted with the judgements made by the inspection team, but are especially pleased with their overwhelmingly positive feedback, which captures our unique vision for education and the positive impact this is having on our students, academically and personally.
Throughout both days of the inspection, our students shone in a myriad of ways; through lessons, clubs, student panels and in their conversations with inspectors around the College site during social times and changeovers. They hugely impressed the inspectors with the pride they showed in their work and the College, and in the mature and articulate ways they spoke about each other’s needs and differences with respect. As leaders we could not have been more proud of how well they represented themselves and IVC.
The ambitious vision we set out to deliver as an IB World School, committed to academic excellence, a broad, balanced, inclusive curriculum, exceptional opportunities and pastoral care is never about delivering a particular Ofsted judgement or satisfying accountability measures, but because we believe it gives our students the very best education. It is, however, fantastic to see the unrelenting efforts of staff and leaders at all levels recognised in the report and to see this vision realised and the impact validated externally.
I hope that you will enjoy reading the inspection report and that you will share in our pride at the very positive feedback and outcome. Thank you again for your continued support.
Yours faithfully
Victoria Hearn

Another busy week in College this week, with lots of coursework days and final mock exams for year 11, as well as lots of Internal Assessment deadlines in year 13, in addition to the usual trips and activities!
Eco Committee Update: message from the students
IVC’s Eco-Committee is embarking on an exciting new project to create an eco-friendly garden within the school grounds. If you would be interested in supporting us in this project through volunteering your time or donating garden resources (eg. Plants, seeds, tools, rocks, etc), please email our staff coordinator Mrs Oldridge At the moment we are in the planning and design stages, but hope to get working on the garden towards the end of the next half term.
Performing Arts: Upcoming Concerts
Don’t forget that on 20 March and 25 March we have our spring term Music and Dance showcases. The students and staff have been working hard all term on a very wide variety of small and large scale ensemble pieces, and there are still some tickets available on ParentPay. It would be great for both events to have a packed house! We also wish the very best to our Performance School Dance students, who are performing at Dance East on Saturday 22 March as part of the regional U Dance festival. We can’t wait to hear how they get on!
Linguistics Olympiad Success
Matilda A and Lucy Y both entered the UK Linguistics Olympiad (Advanced level) recently, a language analysis competition. The Advanced Level is the most challenging of all, and we were delighted to hear that Lucy Y earned a silver medal for her efforts! Well done to both students for entering the competition, and to Mrs Bocci for her support of their participation. Mrs Grimwood thoroughly enjoyed presenting their awards!
CUPA: International Women’s Day
This week our students had another visit to Cambridge University Press and Assessment (CUPA) for their International Women’s Day workshop. Our sixth formers engaged in a variety of workshops around this year’s theme of empowerment, including tackling the gender pay gap issue. Thank you, as always, to Mrs Baker for organising the event.
Reminder from ELA
As a group of schools, Eastern Learning Alliance is looking at ways in which to grow its network of support. We understand who makes up our internal network, (our employees, volunteers, governors and trustees) and are now looking to expand our understanding of our external network within our local communities. We are therefore reaching out to all parents and carers to ask if you would like to share your information with us. We would like to know if you as an individual would like to make up our ‘network map’ or if you run/work for a company that would be interested. Additionally, if you know someone not already associated with the school, please do encourage them to make contact.
We are not asking for donations or looking for any specific support, but are seeking to better understand those in our communities who may be willing to provide such support at a later date, or with whom we can make contact for specific issues. You may just be interested in the work Eastern Learning Alliance does, want to speak positively about us, have time and willingness to help or have a large network yourself you would like to connect us to. If you would like to know more, or would just like to send through your contact information, please email Jenna Bickley,
