Hear from the Principal

October 23, 2024

A short update this week, as we have a shortened week in College. Thank you to all parents and carers for their support this term, and for what has been a great start to the academic year. If you would like to find out more about what is happening in College, please do book onto our next Coffee Morning, which is happening on Wednesday 6th November, via the office. This will be a chance to meet members of the Senior Leadership Team and go on a tour of the College once lessons have started.

I hope that everyone has a fantastic half term break, and look forward to welcoming students back for a busy second half of the autumn term, on Monday 4th November.

Open Evenings

This week is a busy one; we are welcoming over 2000 people into the College for our Open Evenings for year 7 and 12 entry in September 2025. We have more than three hundred students helping us across both evenings, which are a great chance to share and showcase life at IVC, and what it means to be an IB world school.

Parent Governor Election: Update

I am delighted to announce that Nicole Tampin was elected as a parent governor.

I would like to thank all those who put their name forward and took the time to complete the candidate statements, and to those of you who voted.

I and the governors look forward to welcoming Nicole onto the governing board in time for our next meeting in November.

PSFA Annual General Meeting

Straight after half term we have the very important PSFA AGM. If you are able to help out with the PSFA (Parents, Staff and Friends Association) or to attend the AGM to contribute, then please come along to the Carnegie Room at IVC on Monday 4th November at 7.30pm. We hugely value the efforts of the PSFA in fundraising for the College to help us enhance students’ experience, and anything that you can contribute is greatly appreciated.

Panto Trip: Pay it Forward

We launched our year 8 pantomime trip this week, and we aim to take all our students to watch the panto in Ely, as part of their learning in Performing Arts and as an end of term Christmas treat. We also launched the opportunity for parents/carers who wished, to ‘pay it forward’, and to sponsor a child to go on the trip (or to part pay) where they may not otherwise be able to afford to go. We have been overwhelmed by the number of parents/carers who have done this- and wanted to say a huge thank you! It is very important to us to provide opportunities for all our pupils, regardless of their backgrounds, to experience enrichment and trips. We rely very heavily on donations, contributions from parents and our PSFA to be able to do this.
