Hear from the Principal

April 25, 2025

Welcome back! I hope that you had a wonderful Easter break, and that your children are looking forward to a busy and enjoyable summer term.

Easter Revision

We are incredibly proud of our year 11 and 13 students who spent lots of their Easter holidays in College revising for their upcoming exams, and finishing last pieces of coursework. Over the two week break we had over two hundred students in College at various points, supported by staff who generously gave up their holiday time to work with them.

Upcoming Exams

The last few practical exams and languages orals are taking place this week and next, before exams begin in full swing for both years 11 and 13. Our first big year 11 exam is on Thursday 8th May, and then our year 13 IB students start on Monday! We wish all of our students sitting exams the very best of luck, and know that you will do yourselves proud! Revision sessions will continue throughout the exam period, before the Sixth Form May Ball on 23rd May and the Year 11 Prom and Leavers’ celebrations in June and July.

Year 6 Welcome Evening

At the other end of our College, we welcomed year 6 families in this week for the formal transition Information Evening, led by Ms Sale and Miss Chivers. We had two packed Halls for the welcome events, where key information was shared about the transition process and how best to prepare for September. It was also fantastic to welcome along the PSFA, who promoted their work.

Antarctica VR Experience

On Thursday we were lucky to secure a visit from the Antarctica Heritage Trust who set up their VR equipment which enabled staff and students to experience their dynamic and fully immersive VR experience which showcased Captain Scott’s Discovery Hut in Antarctica while on the expedition that took place from 1901 to 1904 and the last port they sailed from/to which was Lyttelton in Canterbury, New Zealand. It was a fantastic experience to explore this 120+ year old hut and the artefacts left in it by the explorers.

Custard Comedy – PSFA Fund Raising

The next PSFA Custard Comedy event will be held on Friday 9 May 2025 in the Gropius Hall at IVC. The evening will feature four professional comedians, including the critically acclaimed headliner Steve Day. There are only 18 tickets remaining to book tickets please follow the link

Reminder: second-hand uniform sale

A final reminder that on Saturday 26 April, there will be a second-hand uniform sale being run by the PSFA from 10am – 12pm in the Main Hall. This is an ideal time to stock up on summer items (or get ahead for September), and there will also be a range of small stalls run by some of our service learning students, along with refreshments. Payments can be made via cash or card.
