Good Schools Guide

I am delighted to share the Good Schools Guide review, following the visit of Lucy Heywood back in October. It is a lovely review which captures the context of the College well. To summarise:  “Continuing to thrive as a village college in the spirit of its foundation, it offers an intellectually demanding education that includes the IB, and makes it accessible for everyone, even those with complex learning challenges. With outstanding leadership and a dedicated staff, this is a thriving school with exceptional qualities.”

PSFA Update- Treasurer

I am pleased to pass on an update from our PSFA, that we have now found a willing volunteer for the Treasurer role. Thank you to our local community for promoting our need, and helping us to find someone for this very important role!

Space Camp

Our IB Sciences students have had the chance to take part in a day-long Space Camp, hosted at Impington and led by staff from the National Space Academy. The students had a great time and we received lovely feedback on their work, and on the atmosphere in the College, from the colleagues who led the workshops.

Costello Medical Trip

This week a group of our KS3 students visited Costello Medical in Cambridge, to spend a day learning about career opportunities in STEM. The students took part in a range of different workshops and practical activities, as well as having the chance to ask questions and find out more about different careers. Employer engagement is an important part of our careers programme across the College, and is one of the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks. We are grateful to Form the Future for their support in providing so many of these activities for our students.

Maths Inspiration Workshop

A small group of year 8 students visited Cambridge Maths School this week as part of an ongoing outreach project they are running. The participating pupils will have the chance to experience different Maths workshops, run by staff and students at CMS, and are assigned a Year 12 mentor.

Rotary Youth Speaks: Round 1

Last night our sixth formers participated in the first round of the annual Rotary Youth Speaks competition. Lilli V, Anna C and Camille F represented us at Queens’ College, Cambridge, debating the motion ‘This House believes we have an obligation to protect the environment for future generations’. The Youth Speaks competition is always a highlight in our calendar for IIC students, and we look forward to another year of success!

Year 11 Coursework Days

After a busy fortnight of mock exams, our year 11 students have been busy in their practical subjects completing coursework and extended mock exams. Across all of our foundation subjects, from Art, Photography, Music, Dance and Drama to DT, as well as Sport and Health & Social Care, the students have had time off timetable with their teachers to give them the best chance of success in their practical and coursework components. We are very grateful to the staff who have supported them through this.

Message from our iCAS Eco Committee

Electrical recycling point at IVC

We have recently introduced an electrical recycling point at IVC.

Here you can bring your small old electronics to be recycled. Here is a list of the items we accept which can also be found on the lid of the box in reception (we can’t accept any others):

  • Cables
  • Extension leads
  • Memory sticks
  • TV remotes
  • USB sticks
  • Satnavs
  • Phones
  • Chargers
  • Calculators
  • Cameras

The box will be emptied regularly and taken to Milton recycling centre and will be recycled and parts will be reused.

We are doing this to make it easier to recycle your electricals as it is usually quite difficult. Also recycling makes the world a better place!!!😀

We are doing this because lots of electricals contain valuable metals such as copper which unfortunately get thrown away and wasted when they can be reused. We are working to change that.

This is open to all, and you just turn up and place your object in the box and leave the rest to us!

Happy recycling!!!
