Hear from the Principal

January 16, 2025

We are delighted to share some of the highlights from our recent IB Evaluation Visit, which took place in November 2024.

The feedback received was exceptionally positive as can be seen from some of the strengths identified by the evaluation team:

  • The school has a profound and long-lasting allegiance to the IB philosophy
  • The governing board and school leadership team show an outstanding and exceptional commitment to the IB philosophy and mission
  • The school has demonstrated its commitment to IB philosophy by providing a wide breadth and balance of subject choices in both programmes, and by its decision to implement the IB MYP for Key Stage 3 students as a foundation for IB study
  • School policies and conversations with senior leaders indicate that the school is highly inclusive of students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds. This is also supported by the students who all agree that one of the great attractions of the school compared to other schools in the vicinity is its diversity
  • The introduction of the IB MYP into Key Stage 3 has patently supported the development of a whole school coherent approach to pedagogy
  • The school has fostered and inculcated a strong emphasis and an explicit focus on developing a culture that supports healthy relationships, shared responsibility and effective collaboration.

All IB Evaluation reports identify areas to develop, as well as strengths. In comparison to the 37 identified strengths, we received just three recommended areas to continue to develop which were: expanding our library by collaboration with others in the area, encouraging more of our highly experienced staff to work with the IB Educator Network and lastly to consider introducing anti-plagiarism software.

We will now look to build the recommendations into our IB Programme Development plan with the aim of further enhancing our provision, while ensuring we maintain the exceptionally high standards we have already achieved.

We are extremely proud to be an IB World School and the outcome of this visit is validation and recognition of the progress made by both the Village and International College over the last 5 years. This excellent outcome would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication and effort from every member of staff, the positive engagement of the students and the support of parents, governors and the community. It is through everyone’s commitment to the IB philosophy, to deliver a better world through education that we have been able and will continue to achieve these outstanding results.
